Dropping off Your Flowers

Be My Resin is located in Abbotsford, B.C., Canada. If you live in the Lower Mainland of B.C., it is optimal for you to deliver the flowers to me within 48-72 hours of the event to maintain their freshness until they can be secured in Silica Gel for Drying.

To maintain the Freshness of the flowers, please attempt to have them in a vase of water whenever you are not holding them. Keep in a cool area away from direct sunlight. To transport them, wrap the bottom of the stems in a cool, wet paper towel and place them in a plastic bag to maintain the moisture balance. Do not place flowers in the freezer at any time.

Drying Process

Roses in Silica Gel

We use WiseDry Silica Gel to dry your flowers, which takes 6 weeks. Please be aware that drying flowers in this way can slightly change the colour of certain flowers, e.g., reds turn slightly dark purple, and whites can turn off white.

Once flowers are dry, it takes roughly 4 hours to remove all silica. White flowers are then sprayed with a sealant to help avoid “Bruising,” which is when the petals turn translucent if hand oils or pressure are applied to them. We always wear nitrile gloves when handling your flowers to avoid bruising; however, the farmer, florist, and client have also interacted with the flowers, so bruising can not be wholly accounted for.

Design Approval

Once your flowers are removed from the Silica, you will be emailed a picture of the dried flowers. We can discuss colour correction if this service is wanted due to any discoloration of the dried flowers. Be My Resin will then send mock-up images for your design input. Everyone has a different design aesthetic, so please let us know at this point if you would like a change to the layout! We want your experience with Be My Resin to be easy and fun. All efforts to change the flowers to your preferred layout will be made. Please be aware that there is a possibility of slight flower migration when the resin is added.

If there is no return email to approve/decline/redesign your piece within 72 hours, A text will be sent to check your email. If there is still no reply within 24 hours, we will begin the resin process, and no changes or refunds can be made to the design at that point.

Pouring Resin

Floral Preservation Resin Pour Cross

All Main pieces will take roughly 7 pours of resin. Each pour takes roughly 48 hours to cure. This process is roughly 2-3 weeks.

Once the piece has been poured, it will need sanding, shaping, a varnish resin pour, and polishing. This step takes roughly two weeks.

Before the piece can go to its forever home, it will need to sit for 30 days to release all of the resin fumes. At the start of this 30-day period, I will email you the “completion date,” which is the 30th. Any outstanding balances are due to be paid by the completion date.

Your piece will be picked up on a scheduled date, which you pick on the calendar on this website. There are four available pick-up dates a month. If your piece is being shipped, I will ship it after the 30-day fume release has ended.
